Well,

I have searched the site and found some posts by Oleg about these settings. I am going to try them out, but I was wondering if anyone could just give me the plain and simple setup that they have used when connecting the SD302 and the DVX100B. I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Kevin.

actually, Olegs description needs taming down ...lol. And a little less scattered over time and space. Nice to see Oleg here, with all his notes, cover the entire subject!

i no work with sound man who anwsers like this. :)

whats your problem oleg - i didn't entirely answer the question, is that it?

just about every post of mine is only half serious, and that was one of them, its not 'wrong', its just not full.

"Settle down there, Russ"

Sometimes we need to take the sage-like wisdom of Chevy Chase to heart.

But, seriously, I agree on the sticky if someone would like to offer to share the info.

The only issue with Oleg's description is that it is scattered on several posts and, no offense to Oleg, the english is a little rough. I am very happy that Oleg has provided the info. But, if you are a newbie like myself, the language barrier creates an extra hurdle to try to understand the explanation.

I have been reading through books and books on audio. I haven't done this much math and physics since high school. So, any help would be appreciated to stop the rapid spinning of my brain. I figure if I could get the revolutions down to say 2 to 5 per minute, I would be OK.

Thanks all,

K.

What is the reason for the bump? Oleg already described how to setup the 302 and dvx. What more are you guys looking for? Specific questions might help.

Pretty much any concerns with mixer settins are covered by Oleg and others here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=37805

Is there anything else that needs explaining?

Cheers

ok - last time :-)
you set up your tone for +0 dbu internal menu ( factory preset)
you step down with the mixer output attenuation in the menu 6- db ( internal menu) from the maximum line level
you put the camera in line level
you place the ton at -20 dbfs ( the 4th white dot from the last red )
you place your mixer limiter at + 16 dbu ( thats the way i like it) and turn it on
you dont need the alc in on ( the camera hard limiter ) camera menu , shut it down .
you can open the input limiters to prevent your mixer input overloads ( i work with , if not the diode light 3 db before clipping - if i remeber correct)
you are connecting your mic and test for the highest level in the situation you are and calibrate the preamp gain that on highest picks the input limiter wouldn't work to much , it can hit the it from time to time .
you open the fader that on the regullar dialog you will hit at least +8-+10db on the mixer scale ( PEAK MITER) .That would leave you with another 6 db until your mixer limiter would kick in
if you work with headphones out as return - go to the last menu and calibrate the monitor to camera input ( not tape ) so you will not have f..delay in your ears if you working with return signal as a reference .
just remeber that camera has one of the worst headphone amp -noisy like hell and distorts much earlier than it happens in real .
if you work with rca outs -it doesnt matter since it doesnt effect this out .( stupid people in panasonic ), by the way tape is not that you hear after recording , the sound is before tape and after the a 2 d converter .

much easier is while you are in menu mode on the mixer ( after you attenuated the signal) is to push the ton button and get +20 dbu tone and place the camera directly on the last red ( 0dbfs ) WHAT MEAN - That if you are +20 dbu on the mixer , you are 0dbfs on the camera - very simple
ok - did you get it or i have to waist my time again:-)
