SD External Moniter on HVX

if i am shooting in 720p on the HVX will it downcovert to SD so i can use my SD CRT moniter or am i going to have to rent a HD moniter for an upcoming shoot. I just want it to know the colors and framing, i don't need to see all the resolution. Also if i am going to be using variable frame rates, will the moniter show it or no?
 
I just compared my 8" sony 8045 SD monitor to the 17" Panny HD. Color looked virtually identical to me so you will have no problems. It will read fine from either video out or the Y/C out.
