It all points toward cell phone-like devices for the low to mid-range production. I agree, Cameras like the EVA 1, FS7 and C200/300 MKII have a limited use within the next 3-5 year. All you have to do is look at the past to see the future. There will be large, heavy cameras for crew served productions for the foreseeable future just because that is how movies are made and even large VR rigs are still kind of crew served. But as far as the mid range to low end, my C200, fully rigged for shoulder shooting can approach the size of a small narrative camera rig and easily weigh 20-25lbs. I would give all of that up in a heartbeat for a tiny, small and light camera with the same or better capability. I'm much more interested in the end result than the tool and even on my current documentary, there is a significant amount of gimbal footage shot in 4K with my iPhone. It doesn't look as good as the Cinema RAW Light from my C200 but it is far less obstrusive and easier to mount the camera to a gimbal than my C200 also so it has it's place in documentary filmmaking. For shooting in restaurants, retail establishments and in otherwise awkward places, the iPhone is a superior tool.
