Scrolling Text on DVD

I have scrolling text in a video. The text scrolls along-side a small video window. Everything looks great in the rendered video, but when I burn it to DVD the scrolling text is really messed up. It's blinks wired colors and is really jerky. Nearly impossible to read. What could be causing this?

sounds like your lossing it in the compression. try uping the bit rate to 7 or 8, and make sure your doing a two pass encode

I tried that, and it didn't really work. The DVD looks great playing on my computers. But when I play in on an analogue TV, it keeps doing what I said before.

Since you are only seeing this on a TV, are you sure you're not seeing interlace flicker or stobing issues? Assuming that you've maintained a consistent field order in your sequences and during DVD encoding, then some things you might want to try are:

- using a larger font size (or a bold version of the same face)
- applying a small amount of motion blur (to the titles only)
- reducing the scrolling speed

hope this helps, or at least gives you a few pointers...
