Scroll wheel zoom in/out

Does anyone know of a keyboard shortcut that allows you to zoom in and out in the timeline by using the scroll wheel on the mouse. Like when you drag the little bar down in the lower left only using the wheel instead of the tiny bar. I just found the "Shift+scroll wheel" short cut to scroll from side to side in the timeline. That's a good one. I'll take a look in the manual. Thanks for any help!

Not that I know of, but I customize my keyboard layout to set the + and - keys to zoom in and zoom out timeline. Works great.

That should definatly go on the list of things for FCP features. And thanks for the tip, didn't know they had shortcuts for that. I just assigned mine to the + - keys too. you can reach it perfectly with the thumb on the mouse hand. Thanks

GET THAT HAND OFF THE MOUSE!!!!

For two weeks it will be slower, THEN... you'll never want to reach for it again.

Well, that's not true... but - get your hand off the mouse!!

Oh trust me, I use the keyboard. :)

See I didn't really grow up in the time when you just plain used a computer with no mouse. So since the time I first touched a computer I have had a mouse in my hand. Plus I didn't start editing with Avid which I consider to be a much heavier keyboard app than FCP.

The one suggestion that I have for anyone that does use a mouse is to turn the tracking up all the way. It might take some time to get use to the fast tracking but once you do it is much better. All it takes is a 1/2" movement to get from one side of the screen to the other. Saves a lot on the wrist.

All in all, the keyboard is my friend all the time when I am editing.

With the cursor over the the horizontal scroll bar, you don't have to use the shift key.

I'll never understand why anyone would use FCP withOUT a 2 or 4 button mouse with a scroll wheel. I set the button by my thumb as a double click. Now when I'm on anyone else's system, I keep squeezing my thumb and wondering why nothing is happening. Oh yeah, that old fashioned "click twice" crap, forgot...

Also notice that you can scroll your mouse wheel over some of the numerical value fields in the Motion tab or in Filters to change the value. Nice to scroll up and down quickly to get a quick idea of where to set it.

Mighty Mouse, nope, won't cut it...

Kensington, Optical Elite, it's own software, I've never had a more comfortable and functional mouse, ever.

Ben, Do you know of any 3rd party software that allows you to select mouse buttons accordingly.

I have a Logitech MX518 and the software that it came with is only for pc. and when i go to the mouse preference pane it doesn't give me any options?
