scriptwriting: word processor that displays green text on black background?

I'm currently writing a script and spending long hours using MS word.

I was wondering if there was any way I could get Word to display my page as green text on a black background in that retro tradition.

I find that green, yellow, or white text on black background causes much less stress on my eyes than black text on a background.

Now I know that Word has the white text on blue background option, but it's still not as great as having green text on a black background.

Unless I invert my whole Mac screen (cmnd+option+cntrl+8), any other ideas?

If Word can't do this, does anyone know a Word-compatible program that does this and can translate its native document format to a Word doc file?

Thanks very much in advance,

- Nick

Well it's really a documentary film script, not a fiction film script. I tried using Final Draft A/V but I didn't really like the program.

You may want to take a look at WriteRoom - though it may not be what you're looking for exactly, it will allow you to get the green text on the black background that you want:

http://www.hogbaysoftware.com/products/writeroom

Only $25, and they have a free trial version you can download.
Great little program to help you write without getting distracted... you know... by things like..um...dvxuser.
:)

...or you could add a text box and then spread it over the page and change it's fill colour to black then change text colour to what you want.

...or even simpler go to "format" then "background" and select black. Simply change text to desired colour.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. Thanks leepback, I had no idea it was that simple!
Format...background. That's great!

I just tried Write Room, not bad. But it seems that when you italicize or make one line of text bold, Write Room applies it to the whole page. I'll be sticking to Word now that I know it was just a ckick away. Thanks everyone.

It's that simple, but keep in mind that when you go to print your script, it will also print as green on black, unless you change the colors back.

Thanks again. Final question about Word when you change the background:

Any way to change the color of the blinking cursor? Because once you change the background to black, the cursor now disappears (as it's black). There must be a way to change the cursor's color.

Thanks again in advance,

- Nick
