Scripts through actor's websites instead of agents

Just curious, I've sent script directly to rather unknown actors via their emails on their on personal websites.

For better known B-list actors though that have sites more for fans than getting jobs, is the email posted there (assuming it's a real email instead of a site admin) still a valid way to shoot them a short film script and pitch a project?

Or is going through an agent in that case more professionally accepted?

Thanks,

I'd doubt you'll ever reach anyone except an unknown actor via an email link on a website. I've taken that route before with unknown actors and have been able to secure some financing through the relationship I built.

I wouldn't consider it a legitimate, or even realistic, way to contact a B list actor though.

A few of my actor buddies actually read their own email but in most cases...even the B actors have someone else handling their email from web sites then they have a personal email that is not published. I even know one major star who does her own Myspace page but only her good friends know it is her. Otherwise she tells people she is the president of a fan club or some other line to throw them off.

Best bet is to go to the agents. If you know a casting director who knows the talent in person, they might be able to help you bypass the agent now and then.
