I got this 4x4 Scrim Jim set.

I know I could've just assembled it myself with PVC pipe but I thought this expense was probably worth it for the extra portability and ease of attaching the included silk and reflector fabrics.

But I really don't want to pay $150 for a westcott floppy cutter 4x4 (8x8) fabric! Anyone just make one themselves from Duvetyne and sewed on some velcro? That should be pretty easy right? Not that I know how to sew but if I can get my wife to do it...yeah?

I have Advantage Grips collapsible 4x4 kit, & doubt the ‘Slippers would fit a Scrim Jim.

Matthews makes a similar system, the RoadFlagsII, but never used it, & the ‘Slip-On’s are not much cheaper than Scrim Jim’s rags.

I've been pretty discouraged by the high cost of egg crate fabrics, but I just found this really cheap kind that Adorama sells: https://www.adorama.com/fpec3648.html
$50 for 36"x48"! Why is it so cheap?

I wonder if there's any reason why I couldn't just clip the edges of the fabric to the Scrim Jim frame. Or possibly it will just work as is because it has velcro already. I've got a 4x4 and 4x6 frame, two of these grids would fill the entire 4x6 frame.
