Screw on pro mist filter?

I am shooting a PSA with a well-known "POP" star next week. I will shoot 1080 24p and as far as lighting I am renting a 3-point arri kit.

He will be in front of a computer for one shot and talking head for the rest.I dont have a 35 mm adapter or a matte box, Would it be ridiculous for me to buy a tiffen screw on pro mist filter to soften or even things out? If so which one? OR should I do all of that in post? Any insider tips?

Feel free to flambé' me in this thread, I probably deserve it!

Cheers!

I have a Promist Black 1/2. 82mm that screw on the front of the HVX, and in due course, plan to try and use it with 35mm Brevis adapter using step ring. I have not used it yet, see the results of this filter on Gruzman's Forever video clip, noting he used it with a star filter and had a fast shutter.

Depends how subtle you want to go? I went the 1/2 Promist Black after reading the article by Chris Oben, see the PDF link at the top of the page.
:violent5: I hope this helps. :D

I'd personally do the effect in post in order to have more control over how strong or subtle the diffusion needs to be, but as far as using a screw-in filter goes, you should be fine. Round filters are very underappreciated -- they're much more robust than squares and since they're the same shape as the front of your lens, you're not paying for unnecessary glass.
