Screening Venues In LA

I'm trying to book some venues in LA for our film. I'm talking to the Downtown Independent and the Aero in Santa Monica. Just found the Ocean Screening Room also in SM which looks like a good place.

Any other recommendations would be great..

Yeah Downtown Independent is great, and inexpensive. When I talked to them I heard it was only like $200 for a two hour block or something, or maybe it was $200/hr, not sure.

When I last talked to Landmark, not a week ago, I was told the rate was between $5,000 and $8,000 per week, per screen; depending on location. I was doing some investigating in that we are looking into releasing most of our films that don't get an initial TV run into at least the NY / LA Theater market to garner some reviews and public interest in the film before we head to DVD.

I was told that they will generally not rent their screens for just "one day" or "a few hours", unless it was during times when the theater was no open to the public.

That's a lot of money, but as you said it's to gain publicity so you hope to break even.

We're looking to do a box office split and have special screenings which include a Q&A with the star of our film.

The Downtown Independent and the Aero offer a box office split if they like your film enough. The big chains don't usually rent out their screens as they are usually under contract to show the films they've booked a certain number of times per day.

A cinema here in the UK who's showing our film had to get permission from the studio to drop one screening. They did then sell out the screening and have offered us three more:thumbsup:

If you want to screen in the UK I recommend approaching them.
