I want to show my film (94 minutes) in a cinema and they have a 2K Digital Projector. My film is shot on the DVX and edited in FCP. My question is what is the best format for going into a projector of that calibar that ensures I get the highest quality?
probably uprez to an HD master. Slooooooooooow but high quality is to use the Advanced Format Conversion in the presets, and customize to highest quality settings. Expect to wait days for it to finish with those kinds of settings. (obviously to some short test sections first)
...and depending on how you shot it (24p or 60i), check with them as to whether they can take an HD-SDI input. Or, frankly, since DV was source, DVCPRO HD would make a decent master too. If they don't have a deck inhouse for playback, consider a Sony JH-3 playback only deck for playback (not positive that'll do 1080PsF so double check!) or DVCPRO HD 1080i60 or 720p24.
Or just punt and do an SD master if the machine has a way to uprez on it's own.
Factor in whether you did anamorphic, 4:3, cropped 16:9 as you shot or whatever
