How do i keep it from scratching while im grinding it?

yea i use water and make a nice paste outta the aluminum oxide, and im super carefull when i take it off the glass and wash it. and thats still what happens every time

The glass that you're using to resurface the uv, is it a nice piece of glass or a cheap piece of glass (meaning is it from a picture frame)? IT has to be a nice thick piece of glass to grind with!

Id like to ask you, are you using this for static or spinning GG?

The reason I ask is that when you spin it, slight scratches wont matter unless they are circular sratches that show up when spun.

im doing the static thing, and yes it is a picture frame, what should i get to grind with? is there a specific type of glass?

ok, im glad to have read this thread before i started to make my GG. I was just gonna take a piece of 1000 grit sandpaper and with my hands run it over a UV filter. I guess that's wrong. What are the steps then to make a good GG?

yea i tried home deopt and the slut that picked up was really rude and said they didnt sell glass. but ill find some, as for your idea young lee, you can probobly use 1000 sand paper, but it has to be wet or dry, and you have to sand the glass under running water, cause if you dont then you get tiny glass particles everywhere. not fun.

do i use a uv filter? or a uv protector? cause ive been grinding a tiffen uv protector, or is that the same thing?

should be the same thing

ive been having the same problems as you, not sure where to get a nice thick piece of 1/4" glass yet...take apart my window?!?

you can get the glass at any glass store, since you only need a small piece they can usually give it to you for free. at least my piece was free, but it didnt help any way.

this is probably a stupid question, but why does it need to be ground down? and how much do you grind it down to? I am in the process of making an adapter and was just going to use a uv filter, but was wondering what the disadvantages of that compared to using glass was
