scratched LCD cover

There are a number of commercial LCD scratch removal products that let you polish out surface scratches -- just Google it.
 
You mean the bezel around the LCD panel itself, or the plastic on the back of the LCD that you see when the screen is closed?

In either case, you can probably get a replacement cover from Spec-Comm.
 
If you are talking about the plastic protection that is used in manufacturing and shipping, then just peel it off. It's hard enough to see good detail using the LCD as it is.

If I'm not mistaken, the bait and switch on-line camera stores may sell replacements.

If you are talking about the LCD itself, then THoff has the answer...or buy a new LCD screen.
