Scratch Removal 24" Dell Display. Can I Fix?

The new 24" Dell acuired brand new scratch around 15 sm long right in the middle of the screen . Two days I have been searching the web for all sorts of recommendations (from tooth paste to Displex GSM screen polish paste) and I am still quite desperate what to do. The deepest part of the scratch gets probably more than half a millimeter and the deep regions are glowing in white light, the surface regions are not too visible when the monitor works. I am accepting any suggestion that has some perspective to help, thanks a lot in advance!!

It sounds like not only is the surface scratched, but the gouge extruded material on the back of the display which is putting pressure on the LCD itself and affecting the backlighting.

That is not something you are going to be able to fix.

It does not seem like the upper glass has been penetrated, the white light seems to be some kind of reflection due to the scratch and not due to backlighting, the pixels and the color seems unaffected.
