Waiting for the MP TB refresh and am goign to use an iMac i7 in the meantime. Am considering swapping out the Optical Drive for an SSD and using the HDD SATA III cable for that, as well as adding a second SSD and using second SATA III cable for that. Then striping '0'. But I got a lot of replies on macrumors.com about scratch being the most important thing in video.

I don't understand the concept as I thought super fast HDDs (or in this case, SSDs) was the key to NLE performance. Does anyone have any light they can shed on this for an old soul? I use CS5 Premiere as an NLE.
