I went and took a look at a Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8D today. The outside showed moderate wear, but the AF, aperture and manual focus stops seemed fine.
Upon further examination, I found a 1.5mm scratch on the rear element, about 2mm from the edge, and there are several 1mm spots on the inside of the front element that appear to be the beginnings of fungus growth.
I haven't had any experience with push/pull zooms, either, so I'm not sure if it's normal for the lens zoom to be super loose (i.e. I hold the lens upside down and it falls straight to 35mm).
Should I even make an offer on this? If so, what am I losing with image quality? Thanks so much!

P.S. I'm shooting FX, so I'll be utilizing the full image from the lens.
