lets say i'm working on two seperate projects simultaneously. can i set a different scratch disk for each project. or can i only set one and it'll save specifically to that disk regardless of where the individual projects are stored?
can only set one I think- but FCP does a good job in specifying folders in the way you name it and thus irrelevant to try and have two separate scratch disks. just make sure you've got enough room in your disk. hopefully Scottdvx will say more.
unless there is some other way to do it, you would have to change the settings each time you open the project. Say you had project 1 on Drive 1 and project 2 on drive 2, everytime you opened project 2 you would have to make sure that your scratch disk was set to drive 2. Why you would want to do this I don't know, FCP does an amazing job at keeping track of everything. It seperates everything into seperate folders, so you never have to worry about media from 2 projects being put into the same folders.
