Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street

Damn. Margot Robbie is hot. And that's an understatement.

As always, if Scorsese had anything to do with it? I'm in. The man's a true storyteller.

I am looking forward to this. I am a huge Scorsese fan and I gotta say that I have grown to appreciate Di Caprio. I blew off his younger "Pretty Boy" roles, but he has become a very good actor. Scorsese always has great cinematographers and on this outing his has chosen Rodrigo Prieto to DP the flick. He ain't no slouch!

Yea yea ... same old same old ...decadence wrapped in a pretty picture.
I'll see it on TV in a few yrs.

Yeah, I saw that off a FB post from Filmmaker Magazine. It is a lot better trailer than the first ones. I am so very much looking forward to that flick. I am bummed that they moved the release date back. I agree, Jonah Hill is doing some great work. I have to admit that I am also become more and more impressed with Leonardo DiCaprio; well, when he works with Scorsese that is.

Saw the film last night. Definitely thought it was one of Martin Scorsese's more clean cut films in the last few years. For me, Hugo was just short of being among classic family films like Annie, Oliver Twist or Mary Poppins (with children as the central characters, and adults as their supporting cast)

I have nothing against Leo (or maybe I do?) but somehow I feel he gets miscast a lot or he's not as good as people say. I always feel like I'm watching an actor trying to be tough/crazy/angry etc. I'm always aware it's Leo. I don't know what it is but for mine he is not in the same league as the great actors like De Niro, Michael Fassbender, Sean Penn etc. Scorsese could have almost any actor I imagine but he's obsessed with Leo. I don't get it.

Leo = more budget for the film. De Niro, Fasssbender, Penn aren't huge box office draws. Leo is, and that's all the money men care about. Scorsese, as revered as he is, can't command any dollar figure he wants like Cameron or Spielberg. His films haven't been gigantic money earners. I thought Leo was perfectly cast in The Wolf of Wall Street. The film is the Scarface of Wall Street movies, the gaudiest, raunchiest, most grotesque version of a story we've seen many times already. The fact that we've seen the story already would be my biggest complaint. But we haven't seen it like this. And the Quaaludes sequence is the funniest thing I've seen in a theater in years.

I may have to see it again to place it in Scorsese's filmography more firmly but I can certainly say it's not his best. Definitely nearer the top than the bottom, though. In the vicinity of The Departed I'd say.
