What's up all. So I've been in production as an operator and DP for about 3 years now, and it's time for me to start making a move on my real career goal, which is creating story/content driven scifi action adventure films with strong philosophical and spiritual metaphors. I'm a practicing Buddhist and draw quite a bit of inspiration from my practice. Think along the lines of "The Force" and the parallel of waking up from the illusion of the Matrix into the Real World with Buddhism's concept of being woken up from illusion of Samsara to realms of Enlightenment.
My goal is to develop a film making style that blends socially relevant spiritual concepts into a scifi world, with the hope of opening minds up to new ideas. All that baked within a solid story line that could stand on it's own, but within a lush fictional world sprinkled with solid action choreography that focuses on the art of movement. (Combat, vehicle chases, the usual guy movie stuff I love, but with a stylistic flair that displays the art and mechanics of movement)
So that's a quick rundown of my creative vision, now it's time to do the footwork to reach that goal. My idea is the usual route of developing skills and exposure through the short film route. Doing projects that are manageable on the low/no budget level, and working up to this goal.
I'm looking to meet up with other folks in the LA area (based in Studio City) who are also into scifi /action adventure, and would like to get together for the general creative process of film making. Drop me a line if you've got a project you need a hand with, whatever the position, or would like to collaborate on something entirely new. I've got an HVX, lights and audio. Skills are DP, operator, director and actor (martial arts and motorcycle background). But I love production in general and being on a set in any capacity is fine by me.
I'm planning on doing a short in the beginning of 2009. In the Action/Adventure genre, but could go sci fi if I make some good CG contacts. Looking to meet the people to make that film with.
Contacts I could particularly use:
Writers
Producers
CG Artists
Cheers, and looking forward to making some great films together!
