School Promotion C/C

Hi all,

Just wondered if i could get some input on a video that i did as a promotion for a school in England. I had never done anything like it before and was nineteen at the time so it was a good learning experience. Unfortunately the main abbey church was under reconstruction and the whole project got delayed by about eight months during which time i had to return to Australia, so i never got to finish the video for them. They have since replaced the video that mine was meant to replace, but i think it's still absolutely horrendous, which you can watch here:

Mine is here: (watch it in hd!)

There are loads of things that i'd like to change, particularly the interview with the headmaster, but oh well. Any comments on the cinematography/editing etc would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Sean

To me, they both have shortcomings. Theirs has that strange 80's washed out look, yours has the DSLR look. Their interviews are also lit.

In total, I prefer theirs for several reasons, mostly on the creative side.

Their video overall leans more on the academic/board school elements, whereas yours is more on the athletics. I watched yours first, skipping through before watching it entirely, and actually thought it was for a young country club, not a school. You click on 10 random frames in theirs, and you can get the jist it's a school.
Why do you have a race car sound? That's not connected to anything anywhere.
I like their music better. Yours sounds too tongue-in-cheek plingy for a regal presentation, although theirs is not a great example either.
Their video, the interviews seem to be more natural, less forced. And they had more people interviewed, which I think would help with a flow.
I like that you get the message across quicker... not sure why it took them 8 minutes.
