Schoeps with Roycote

is this the greatest mic set up? I want to use it mainly indoors and a little outdoors, but the outdoor shots will be pretty closeup

I heard that the schoeps with the MK41 capsole is a great indoor and has somewhat the reach of a shotgun

I know you need a hypercardiod for indoors, and shotguns wont cut that

I have the budget for one good mic

Is this my pick?
 
What other gear do you have? Do you already have a mixer? Good cables and headphones? Everything in the cain needs to be good or you won't notice a difference.
 
my pick would actually be a cs-3e... unless my exterior shots WERE all tight. but they arent, so thats my personal pick.
 
If you are on a tight budget it is better to invest in a full kit of middle of the road gear then pile it all into one piece of excellent gear. Jeremy put together some decent cheap audio kits in one of the stickies.
