Schoeps good for direct connection to DV camera?

I need a good hypercardiod and this time I am going to buy a high quality mic.

So I am looking at either Senn MKH 50 or a Schoeps with
SCHOEPS MK41 cap.   I want to be able to plug it directly into the camera XLRs when I need to travel light.

Do I need to use a mixer to get the benefits of using these higher quality mics or should they still perform well when plugged directly into the camera XLRs?

Also, everybody says I should get the "Cut 1" for use with the Schoeps.  Would not using a mixer change whether or not I use the Cut 1?

IF YOU LOOK FOR CUT , LOOK FOR CUT-2 wich sTSTARTS in 40 HZ instead 70 on cut 1 ( thats contineus varible so you can place it in every position until 600 hz). and that grate benefit if you recording musik .
you can plug it in like every other mike , the qualaty depends on placing the mike and the preamp , its alwais better do it with external good one .
good mike my favor , usially work on my pd-150 when i shoot my kids:)

I have read posts by people saying to get the Cut2 for recording music. But I really only record dialogue. The Cut2 would still be best for dialogue?

its the same device , the cut 2 starts at 40 hz and the cut 1 at 70 hz , the benefit of the first ,you can also use it for music recording , the 70 hz is to hi for that perpess , the cost is same .
if you have good ecxt preamp you wouldnt need it to much and save some 500$ if you place the mike on camera , place inline low cut filter not to amplify low fq rumbling ( 80-100 hz), cut one extend the mike abot 2.5 ench and add about 69 gr to the weight ( if i remember correctly)
the biggest benifit of this device is that you dont amplify low fq in to the mike pre , the mixer only cut what was already amplified so might be situation that the low fq alredy did dameg the whall signal ( heavy wind ,,,ets

Most of my mics are Senn, but for hyper the Schoeps mk41 is absolutely the BEST. Great choice! ;D You will hear the benefits of using this mic regardless of the medium but the better the preamps the happier you will be.

why not and you save allot of money ( if you thinking schoeps or mkh50)
francly for one mike only i was more happy with the sen , since it very durable and dont have any rf or humidity problems , didnt work anouth with the neuman to make this stament ,check also the Josefson - becouse the low $ ( thats US hi end mices)that might be cheaper then schoeps also - one of the best mikes you can buy ]
but frankley i was not putting all the aggs in one busquit
used 416 or 4073 + one octava with cardiod and hipper cardioid would be much better for someone who work allone and need some freedom choice

Yes,  I was on the Josephson website last night but have never heard their mics so have no idea about them.

So the Schoeps needs the Cut 1.  Do these other mics like Neumann and Jsephson also need add ons to reach their full potential?   Much of the time I will be going straight from the mic to the camera XLRs so no mixer to filter anything out.

you dont have to buy cu1 , you can save the money for anotherr mike , and add some in line low cut filter , the same for other mikes , only schoeps make such adevice , the others or do have one on the preamp or use the mixer or inline filtering
