Schoeps CMIT 5U 60 cycle hum problem

I have the new Schoeps CMIT 5U. I am having 60 cycle hum problems. I sent one back already and the new one has the same problem.

It is quiet until I bring it near an AC line. I do not have this problem with my other mics. It is running through a SD 442 and an SD 302. I also ran it directly through a camera with the same results.

I thought that I got a bad mic, but getting two bad ones? Could this be a factory defect?

Anyone have this mic. Could you test yours running it near AC lines to see if it hums.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try a different cable?
Did you try your other mics with the same cable?
Are you powering the mixer and camera with A/C or batteries?

Tried 3 different cables, tried 2 other mics, no problem. Everything powered by battery. No AC power supply noises.

Cables are factory Canare, almost new. No problems when used with Sennheiser 416 or Shoeps CMC 6U w/ MK41.

Earlier models of Schoeps preamp were quite prone to rf noise but I believe they have it all straighten out. I get no issues from my cmc6. I have not heard of the CMIT having this issue but perhaps it does.

I don't think any other members of this board own the CMIT but I think Oleg has had more practical experience with it then anyone else; perhaps he will chime in when he gets up this morning. You could also try posting your query in RAMPS. There are a bunch of CMIT owners in there.

In the mean time, keep it away from AC power.

Cheers

i checked the mic but never had any of these issues .
and also never find it as one i must have :-)
how fur from the ac source you hear the noise ?
check if your cables ground , pin 3 connected to the body

The problem looks to be solved. B&H sent the same mic back to me. Can anyone who has one of these let me know your serial number?
