Hi all,

The price of the 641 at B+H is just under 2000. I can afford this. But do I need to buy other things for this mic for optimal performance? Or even just to 'make it work'? I have a feeling i'm a bit confused, because I thought all you needed was the mic, an XLR cable, and some phantom power and you're good to go, but reading some peoples posts on here may have confused me.
What do you CMC641 users have? Just the mic and a softie? The mic and some cut1 filter(or whatever the heck it is), please elaborate!

Thanks so much!

do you have a mixer with low cut? That is all I use.

No softie, if you want to use it outside, you would need a BBG otherwise you are good to go. The small foam included is fine for indoors.

I don't have a mixer, but I intend on buying either the shure fp33 or the sound devices 302. would both have a low cut filter? is the sound devices reallly worth the extra money? it seems like it..

Don't forget a good shock mount for your boom. The 641 is very sensitive and handling noise is a problem with less than adequate mounts.

i bought a rycote zeppelin from oleg so i'm sure i'll be fine. unless....will it fit the schoeps? its coming with a mkh416, i assume it's built to fit that.
