So I pulled the trigger on a used CMC5 + MK41, a deal too good to pass on.
I played with it a little bit today, first impressions: the Schoeps definitely plays in a different league: much more open, more detailed, better low-end, and overall incredibly natural-sounding. The AKG sounds slightly dark and dull in comparison. That being said, IMO the AKG is close enough to the Schoeps in terms of sound signature for the two mics to be used together in the same scene as long as each mic stays on the same talent (obviously it's a much better match than with the 416 which has a much different signature).
If anyone's interested I can record and post a side-by-side comparison.
