Schneider Xenon FF Primes on sale thru July 31

Wow, quite a deal. If you are here, I'd bet you could get them through CVP, assuming that deal counts for the UK too?

Even though you rarely see them in the wild, I always heard great things about the third gen Xenar's. I wonder how these stack up to their bigger, faster brothers, besides FF vs s35 coverage?

That may be why they're giving some away? To generate more buzz around the water cooler?

I've read/heard good things about the Xenons. And come on - these are Xeen prices. If I were in the market for FF cine lenses, I'd be obsessively searching lens tests and comparisons right now

I was actually referring to the Xenar's. But you rarely see the Xenon's, either. Both lines have been around for a while, though. I believe the first gen Xenar's date back to the early 00's and the Xenon's around '13 or '14. Most accounts of the first two generations of Xenar's said they were bad, with the third gen being awesome.

Some quick digging is showing that people generally like the mechanics of the Xenon's and overall like the image, but CA is pretty rough, with some saying they sold them off, because of it or it's what stopped them from buying.

The Xenons were on Blackmagic camera stock photos for years. I always wondered if they had some sort of biz together.

Nothing formal.

They are liked internally because they’re a pretty neutral / straight lens. They were one of the first to specifically do telecentric designs too. (Not these but the Xenar)

They’re not my cup of tea but if you like the look (or no look) then these are great.

Where is Doug Jensen ... he used these at one point ... and seemed to like them.

I would jump at these over the Sigma Cine lenses that I am considering at the moment.
