With only referencing the Soderbergh script, we decided to shoot a scene from SEX,LIES,&VIDEOTAPE, as a directing exercise, for later comparison to the original film.

I've since watched the film and seen that the dialog has changed and the scene ends early. And I feel like we emphasized certain things that the original film did not.

This was an EXCELLENT exercise. I plan to do it again. I wanted the experience of directing something I had not written, but could have the later benefit of watching how it was done by Soderbergh. :)

Stars Benjamin Farmer & Mia Allen, with cinematography by Sean Brown, gaffer Mike Weiss, sound by Kati Werner and Dane Vandewiele. Directed by AJ Brooks.

Enjoy!

I too enjoyed watching this.

For some crazy reason I like watching recreations. On YouTube there is one done as a school assignment I believe, and it was a scene or two from No Country of Old Men. It was cool too.

I was able to let go of the original (mental comparison), and get into this scene, so therefore I would say, you did a great job.

Cinematography seems very claustrophobic and coverage very traditional. The acting was good but the scene didn't engage me (though i do remember it from thee original).
