Any one have any suggestions on what scenes settings to use on a 35 mm adapter? Higher detail? What kind of gamma? Any things that can be done in post (fcp) Just curious.

I have done a search. HAven't found the scene file info.

Here is a page with a lot of different looks shot with the HVX and the DVX with and without the M2 adapter.

And here is a review of the cinematography:

First -- I recommend buying Barry's DVX book to get some basic scene file ideas and information. Second -- I recommend buying Barry's HVX book, which explains in more detail exactly what all those scene file settings do (and most of the settings are the same on both cameras).

That said, my general advice is to find a look that you like, and then lower the Auto Iris by 3 or 4. I've just found that the 35mm adapters really need more exposure. And when in doubt, add more light to the scene and bring the lights in closer than you would for shooting without the adapter. Its got to be brighter than you are used to without the adapter to get a good exposure.

Detail -- well, its all a matter of style in my opinion. You can set the detail levels up and get an artificially sharper image. Part of the charm of the 35mm adapter is getting a softer, grainy, film look. Some people are trying to get a video look out of the 35mm adapter, and its just never going to be that sharp. My take on it is that its all art. I have no problem mixing footage with and without the adapter. When I want something handheld, fast, or super-sharp I just shoot with the native lens. And when I want something more dreamy, I shoot with the 35mm. You can turn the detail up and make it look sharper with the adapter on. You can also turn the detail way down and make it look softwer with the native lens. And I think if you use in-camera coloring, that the clips are consistent enough to mix the footage. So then the sharpness of the scene becomes a matter of artistic discretion rather than a static objective.
