Scene detection = Will not allow = Time/Date not found.

I use scene detection always. But for some reason it wont let me captuere with scene detection and pops up a window that says
"Time/Date not found on tape and is required for scene detection".
The timecode is fine, so why am I getting this message. THis dosnt make sence to me. Is there a setting on the DVX that could have turned off date/time? And if so , why would that even matter to scene detection?
I thought the only thing that matterd was timecode. frustrating.

scene detection wont work if your date and time is not set on your camera (something like free run timecode) this is how it detects cuts in your footage. if you got a new camera or recently changed your battery on it then check the date and time and make sure its set properly. This has to be set before the footage is recorded it doesnt matter what decfk is used ot play it back, so the footage you have has to be logged or just regularly captured
