scene detection on import/capture

Hi,
I am new to FCP 6.0. I have been using Vegas and got use to the scene detection feature on the capture. For those who haven't used Vegas, every time the camera was start/stopped in the field, when capturing Vegas will make a separate clip for each start/stop. Does anyone know if you can do this in FCP 6.0?

Not ON capture. In fact, I use a third party app to now capture all of my footage. It does just that.

It won't make an actual separate clip but it will subclip each start/stop with a marker which is pretty functionally the same effect.

hey guys,

for the life of me, i can't figure out how to make the markers mark on start/stop. any hints? (i just moved over from vase)
 
I think it is under the MODIFY menu... detect start/stop

Select the clip in the browser and then find that feature. Warning... doesn't work very well if you use 23.98 clips - after pulldown removal.

When digitizing HDV it makes scene clips because the MPEG stream gets broken every time the camera stops.
 
Correction: "detect start/stop" is under the mark menu. :thumbsup:
And I believe it olny works when captured via Firewire?

Any info on that 3rd party app. Captain?
