All I know is that in the meantime I will be busy shooting, but when it does come out, I'm getting that package, unless my loan goes through, then I'm getting the interchangeable with miniprimes
As Barry stated in another thread, with all of the new crop of video DSLRs coming out with bigger sensors, the S35 is the one I'll get, but until the the 5d/7d do just fine.
I think the same thing I thought when that rumor went around. No way, they can do it for $3k. The numbers don't add up. It'll be at least $5k out the door guaranteed.
For people who want 2/3" it will be a terrific deal. For people who want 35mm they can either deal with the shortcomings of the 5D/7D/GH1, or they can step up to the plate, spend $10k and get a Scarlet.
Honestly, the only thing I don't get is why any of this is a surprise to anyone.
Man, remote focus pulling? There's some crazy cool stuff they're coming out with next year.
Luckily I've got plenty of time before I have to step up and do the direct to DVD feature. I wouldn't be surprised if the S16 is a major canidate for me. The S35 is even better, but I gotta figure that the pricing would just get ridiculous after a while (because you'll have to buy Red specific glass, right? Just like wit the 2/3"?)
My thoughts are "pretty good" with a hint of dissapointment ... I think the scarlet (even the 2/3") will be great cameras... however, the moment that Canon fixes the aliasing issues on a 5DM2/7D/1D successor the scarlet won't seem nearly as attractive.
