Scanners

Saw a copy on the market recently and bought it, not seen it for years. I have always loved Cronenberg, (especially Videodrome), I was impressed how good the first half of Scanners was...Lots of great shots...Ironside was fab too...second half I think let it down.

Yep, one of my Cronenberg favorites. Good use of Ironside (probably his best) and McGoohan.

Too bad you didn't like the rest of it. What about the end? Considering the budget, it was very satisfying thanks to the amazing Dick Smith.

It also had a great ad campaign at the time.

"I'm gonna suck your brain dry!"

I dig scanners.

I'm also a Cronenberg fan. Ever since i saw Shivers in college.
( I personally think the new flick slither looks like a gory ripoff minus the sex.)

However Videodrome is not only my favorite Cronenberg but also one of my top ten all time favorite films. The criterion collection DVD is absolutely superb.

Honestly how can you beat a mantra like:

"Long Live the New Flesh!"
