if this is a "community for digital filmmaking" how can screenplay writing possibly be considered "off topic"? it's an outrage! :cry: The only type of filmmaking that doesn't need a script is porno.
 
I agree here. This site is dedicated much more to technical aspects of visuals, than anything else.

You gotta start something! then!
 
When this community was first formed, it was specifically taylored to be for the DVX, and nothing else.

Then the site blew up, and became more encompassing. I personally don't have a problem with thie section being under 'Off Topic'. I mean, Film Discussion is under Off Topic, and I think that you learn a great deal by watching and discussing other films.
 
Interesting. The people who joined before 2005 don't care.

Well, screenwriting as screenwriting...might be better served by a site that deals more exclusively with it like Zoetrope or Triggerstreet, or misc.writing.screenplays

Here, I'd be more interested in tech questions than actual writing questions. Like writing for a limited budget or special considerations DV might have (not that I can think of any at the moment).
 
all i'm saying is this site defines itself as a "digital filmmaking community". and as such, it shouldn't marginalize screenwriting to a dusty, forgotten back lot.
