Scaling a clip down

When you scale a clip down to about 50% the rest of the screen is black. Is there a way to fill that black with something? What I have is a clip that is full frame then is reduced to 50% then ends up somewhere else. You only see the black for a second if that while the clip is in motion from keyframing it. It doesn't look bad though, just wondering...

What do you want to put there? Just move the clip you want to scale to track 2 and put something else behind it... a color matte would work or anything else, too.
