Saw Clapton Last Night!

[groveChuck]

On his 68th birthday, no less- and he's still got it. The man's guitar still wails... tastefully!
A great show from Clapton, with an opening 40 minute set by Jakob Dylan's The Wallflowers.

One of my fave Cream songs, Badge.

Awesome. Love Clapton.

Cool! A few years ago I saw him with Steve Winwood at the Garden. Un - freakin' - believable. You kind of forget that he is such a great lead guitarist until you see him leading a band. The sound he gets from a Strat. Damn. What a great set!

[groveChuck]

Yep, The Master of the Stratocaster!
And definitely leading his 7-piece band (+ 2 female backup singers). He had an awesome pedal steel/lap steel player.
Winwood- cool, half of Blind Faith!

I'm not usually a fan of guest stars, because I want to see the artist I came to see (and sometimes he lets his band solo too much), but... speaking of the Garden, in a couple of weeks at his Crossroads Festival, over 2 nights at the Garden, he's playing with:

Albert Lee
Allan Holdsworth
Allman Brothers Band
Andy Fairweather Low
BB King
Blake Mills
Booker T
Brad Paisley
Buddy Guy
Citizen Cope
Dave Biller
Doyle Bramhall II
Earl Klugh
Eric Clapton
Gary Clark Jr.
Jeff Beck
Jimmie Vaughan
John Mayer
John Scofield
Jonny Lang
Keb Mo
Keith Urban
Kurt Rosenwinkle
Los Lobos
Quinn Sullivan
Robbie Robertson
Robert Cray
Robert Randolph
Sonny Landreth
Taj Mahal
Vince Gill

That's some players...

Cheers!!
