saving HD Footage with prodject files

When working with SD footage vegas allows you to save "trimmed" copys of the orginal files with the prodject. This allows me to save HDD space and it's better for archiving. Is this possible for DVCPRO HD content without any quality loss to the orginal MXF files?

I've never done it, so I don't know if it's possible at all with MXFs. Try a small segment and report back.
