Saving across a Mapped Drive

I'm trying to "save" a project across a mapped drive and It won't let me. My only option is to "save as" which is rediculous, because it means I have to rename my project every time I want to save it. I get an error like this:

I have FULL permissions to the drive, so that's not the issue. If I work completely locally I have no problem using the "save" option. I think Adobe must have Premiere setup to lock files that are being worked on across shared drives, so that someone else can't access my project and screw me up. If this is the case, does anyone know what I can do about it? I saw another guy with the same problem on another forum, so I know I'm not the only one in this boat.

any help would be appreciated,
triple

Hey triple,
I've encountered the same problem. Can't say I've spent a lot of time looking but I don't have a solution. I figured it had to do with how Adobe chose to open the file and there wasn't much I could do about it. It's definitely not a permission problem. Are you using 2.0? I haven't tried this yet wth 2.0.

nice to know, I'm not the only one. Yes...I am running 2.0. Hopefully there is a way around it.

thanks Dan,

I usually story my projects locally but have media via mapped drive.

Not a bad approach, soar. I just like to be able to switch over to my laptop if my main system is tied up doing something else like an AE render and I'd rather not have multiple versions of the project file on different machines. In the end, I consider it more of an annoyance than a problem. There are workarounds.

agreed Dan!

I work across 3 stations; one captures, one edits, one exports. To download project files locally is definately a solution, but it can become a file management nightmare at the same time.

I can't believe Adobe has no solution for this issue.
