Save The Cat

'Save the Cat' is a good read. And very funny, too. I don't know that it should be taken for gospel but I'd say read it, for sure.

You can skip "Goes To The Movies" in my opinion.

Frank

And I think it is very useful and goes more in depth on certain genres. I have not read "Strikes Back" yet but I really like the other two.

I have the first two and really like them. What I like about that system is that it lays down a foundation. It gets you thinking in the right direction. That's what I get from them. Kind of a general overview of the plot.

Save the cat is very limited on discussing and explaining the third act. I haven't read the 3rd book but have heard that it does get much deeper into the 3rd act. Much of the book is a rehash of the other 2 but the 3rd act discussion is where it's really helpful.

I have read Save the Cat and Goes to the Movies.

Didn't realise there was a third book? What is it called?

I thought both very good - if you only want one then Save the Cat is it.

I took them on holiday and I liked them so much I tried to contact Blake (as he encourages you to do) but was advised he had recently (at that time) passed away.

It's called Save the Cat Strikes Back. I think I'm going to pick it up myself. I'm curious to see what he has to say about the third act.
