sata drives for capture scratch?

Just wondering if its a bad idea to use an internal sata drive on a mac pro as capture scratch through fcp. Not the boot drive but an additional 1tb drive. Or would i be better off with external?

are there any advantages of having a sata or having an external? I as this because I am buying my mac pro tomorow and can get a deal on sata drives.

External drives are easier to move between computers... If you were going w/a RAID I'd go external, but if not there's no reason not to save money and go w/the internal drives.
