Sata card?

There really are not too many options. Is sonnet the only real option. I am thinking about the 4+4 card for my G5. Any suggestions, or embarassing antidotes?

Are all the SATA slots internal? It is hard to tell from the link. If that is the case, how do you run them out of the case.

The case is not the issue, that part I can figure out, what I am wondering is if the SATA connections are internal, how do you run the cables out of the box? Thanks.

I don't think you would...there are kits that let you mount up to 4-5 drives inside a G5. It's pretty crazy and I think that it would get a little hot.

If I were you I would go with one of the Firmtek SATA cards. You can a four port external card and run that to your enclosure. Firmtek was founded by former Apple engineers so you know the stuff works pretty good!

You have to find a way to run out the cables from g5. I have an empty pci slot,
so i removed the lid of the emty pci and i passed the cables from there.

I'm pretty sure the Sonnet card is just a repackaged Firmtek card that's more expensive.
I've read nothing but good things about the Firmteks.

To answer the "where are the connections" question - the cards in question have external SATA ports. You connect cables externally to that and then to the enclosure/hard drives.
Firmtek has very good enclosures, too.

the same - esata is ment for exterior of case situations while asata is for inside your case. You can run asata outside but there is potential for electromagnetic interfereance.

So if i were to purchase a firmtech enclosure, 4 bay Sata drive, I'd need to purchase eSata cables and eSata drives, correct?
