SATA 150 and 300

I need to get new drives for my computer cause' I don't have enough space. My computer supports SATA 150. Can I use SATA 300 drives in my computer?
Is SATA 300 backwards compatible with SATA 150?

You should be fine, I just bought a SATA 300 for my comp that has SATA 150. My question is about speed, what speed do you get with a comp SATA 150 computer, but a 300 drive? I'm assuming 150 is it, but I'm hoping otherwise.

I'm sure it works just like using a usb 2 device on a usb 1.1 port; the usb 2 device's speed will be bottlenecked by the usb 1.1's.

I just read on a site that SATA 300 drives need a jumper to let them work with SATA 150; some drives have the jumper, some don't. :(

Anyone know of a reliable 500gb SATA hard drive I could look into? Preferably SATA 300 with compatability to SATA 150, but it doesn't have to be. (I need to buy 2 for a RAID 1 configuration)

You'll never reach 150 MBytes/sec unless you're running a RAID5 with many drives.
For a single drive or a RAID1 it doesn't matter if you have a SATA 150 or 300 system, the bottleneck is the drive, not the bus.

Thanks for the reply, and now that I think about it makes sense. I was hopig for just all-around faster performance, not 150MBs, basically make things peppier. The RAID5 is the next storage purchase, but it's just so damn expensive!
