Hi guys i got my self sankor 16c with 52mm clamp. I also have canon 50 1.8mm lens which has vignetting. Now what is the best way to avoid vignetting with sankor? i seen some videos with 50mm fd 1.4 canon lens and it looks like vignetting is gone. My last question i got this lens for panorama video shooting what lens would be good here with sankor with minimal vignetting.

Thanks

You'll probably need to use a longer taking lens. If the rear diameter of your anamorphic is smaller than the front element of your taking lens, it will vignette.

It is a focal length issue + the 16c rear seems to be only ~ 40mm. I think your lens will function similar to my Singer 16D I had. On a canon crop 1.6x, I used a taking lens w/ focal length of about 75mm with no vignetting iirc (maybe it was 80mm, 85mm,?). So just get a lens with a longer focal length. You may need to go up to 100mm F.L b/c the rear is small. Shooting wide open will also reveal more vignetting.

If people shoot videos w/ 50mm and no vignetting, maybe they are shooting on panasonic crops, or shooting at a higher f ratio, or are cropping out the vignetted part in post. Or maybe they have a different version of the sankor.

Hey, i have the sun anamorphic lens with the helios 58mm f2 on my APS-C and it has some vignetting sometimes, depending on how much light and what I have it stopped down to. Here's a little vid I shot earlier today to test it out

But i would probably advise around an 85mm.
