Sanken CS3e with Sony EX1

Hey guys,

For work, we recently purchased the Sanken CS3e. We'll be using it with the pres of the Sony EX1 as well as the SD 552.

We did a shoot yesterday and maybe it was just me but the Sanken was barely audible going through the Sony EX1 pres it was kinda strange. Is this common for the CS3e?

On camera we went manual audio, no limiter and no auto gain. The mic is set to run phantom power off the camera. The highest levels we can see are like -25 and nothing higher.


It's very strange. We plugged in a Senn G3 lav sanken cos 11 and levels were very good.

Were you in mic or line mode? How does the mic work into the 552? Bad cable? That mic is pretty hot so something isn't right.

SD 552 is coming in tomorrow so we'll get a chance to try and see what the difference is.

Yup we were in mic mode set to phantom power. Forgot to swap out the xlr cable. You are right Bernie it might be a bad cable. Will check that tomorrow. :)
