Sanken Cs-3e with Ex1 pre-amps, acceptable?

I tried to search if anyone had experience with the Sanken Cs-3e with the Sony Ex1, and no results so far. I'm about to get the Sanken to do some documentary work and would like to know if I can get good results without a separate mixer/recorder. I can always upgrade to a mixer/recorder later when I can afford a sound guy to be with me in every situation.
 
Would it be a big step up if I added a Sound Devices MM-1 to the chain? It's so small that we could still remain really mobile. Opinions?
