Sanken CS-3E and humidity

I've noticed there are a bunch of users on this forum who are pro-CS3e. In reviews around the web, it seems that it handles humidity. Has anyone had experience with it in high humidity/adverse weather conditions? I know it is not as well made as the MKH416, but I really need a shotgun mic that has a more forgiving off axis pickup, and can sound at least mediocre indoors, until I can fork up the money for a Shoeps cmc641.

I will be traveling to Kentucky in early August to do some outdoor interviews, and need to make sure it won't be singing a humidity song.

Also, if you do suggest the Sanken, what shockmount, windjammer, boom pole combo do you recommend?

the schoeps cmc641 are not good in humidity, people use mkh-50 for that.

for sanken get 12' gitzo cf pole $300 (or spend $$$ and get a graphite k-tek...don't get aluminum). Also k-tek k-zepp medium.

Yeah I wouldn't be using the Schoeps in a humid environment. I just meant I needed to choose between exterior or interior mic at the moment, and since I will be doing more exteriors than interiors for the summer, I'm going with the shotgun.

I'm just hoping the Sanken can hold up in humidity.

Thanks for the accessories suggestion!

Yeah, I should have used more basic search terms to get better results. Thanks mate! Hopefully this can be the definitive thread where everyone pools their thoughts on Cs3e humidity concerns. I see Oleg was fine with it, whereas others were/are not.

Humidity in Kentucky for some exterior interviews is not going to be a big issue. You can go with your Sanken or a Neumann or Schoeps. When people are talking about these microphones having problems with humidity they are talking about extreme situation. That's my experience at least. I have used Schopes, Neumann and Sanken in Bolivia's jungle and have very few humidity problems and that's worst than Kentucky

Obi, I use the cs3. Handled Tokyos hot, humid summer and wet season without so much as a cough. I agree, must be an extreme scenario like umm... taking it diving? It will be fine.

OBi--would $1278 be better?
give Shane Koss a call or email at AltoMusic, NY.
-- I have no connection with these guys other than two previous
deals that squarely beat the competition.

Too much money for sure. There is Gotham, Por-Sound or even Trew Audio they all will give you better price

Yeah, I've pretty much been using B&H as a place to put everything in one shopping cart, then figure I will buy from other vendors. Thanks so much for the recommendations!
