Samyang/Rokinon/Walimex DS/mkII vs original?

Hey!

Anyone have any experience with the Samyang mkII (think that's what Rokinon call DS?) cine lenses vs the original? Gear placement and slightly new coatings are the big differences, I believe?

Reason I ask is that here in Germany they are sold as Walimex Pro and can't really find any mkII versions under that brand.

Now I could just order them from elsewhere in Europe, but if the difference is negligible, I might not bother and just go with the originals...

I had the original 35 and 85mm's and replaced them with the DS versions. If the price difference isn't much I would just go with the DS for the declicked aperture and the built in focus gear. Visually there isn't much of a noticeable difference to my eye (sadly).

I have a couple of the Samyang mkII lenses. Yeah - they are identical to the Rokinon DS lenses. Better coatings, clearer markings, and a uniform positioning of the gears.
I just prefer saying "Samyang" over "Rokinon".
Plus they seem to sell for a few dollars less.

I meant the original cine versions that already have the declicked aperture and focus gear, sorry if I was unclear.
As I understand it the new MkII cine versions are what Rokinon (c'mon, Samyang, just sell the lenses under your own name everywhere!) call DS. And are supposed to add new coatings for better colour matching between the lenses and the focus gear is now on the same spot for all lenses for easier lens changes when using follow focus.

Question is, are the new coatings worth chasing the mkII/DS over the original cine lenses?

Me too! And way more than saying Walimex Pro! Samyang should just sell the lenses under their own name everywhere!
