Samyang cinefied lenses

it looks definitely SWEET - except the don't seem to be attempting a common size for all lenses

also, I'm starting to be less of a samyang fan lately: the 85mm is awesome, and extremely cheap; my 8mm is great, and extremely cheap again; the 14mm is still cheap, but has more distortion than I'd like to see; the 35mm is super sharp, even more so than canon L or zeiss, but bokeh is nasty (I wouldn't use it as main lens on APS-C, but it would be great as moderate wide angle on full frame) and not so cheap anymore; the 24mm can't be called cheap, at least until some better reviews come out

I wish they would explore this.

I wish they would explore this.

The first time I ever heard of Samyang was in this tidbit about the geared 8mm dated September 2010: http://www.dpreview.com/news/2010/9/22/samyangvdslr8mm

So this is apparently something they've had in mind for a while. I use my Rokinon 14mm all the time and have been very happy with the performance- especially for the price! If they had a 50mm to add to their lineup, I would definitely get in line to buy a geared set of Rokinon/Samyang primes. A set of quality 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm primes with focus and iris gears would probably cost less than one Zeiss CP.2 lens.

Obviously they wouldn't be as good as a set of Compact Primes. But they'd probably probably give you 80% of the performance at about 20% of the price. I could live with some imperfections for that kind of value.

the 35mm samyang is sharper than its CP2 counterpart, although it has awful bokeh and breathes a lot - the 85mm is also pretty close to the zeiss - for full frame, a samyang set of 24+35+50+85+135 could be awesome - on APS-C, the ugly bokeh of the 35mm is already somewhat limiting

As far as I'm aware of, this lens is nowv2 years in the market (the cine version one) thanks. Johnnie
