Samsung LCD or Apple 23' HD cinema display

I don't have that Samsung but I have a HDTV that is very similar looking to that one. Mine is 26 inches though and I use it to edit with. I love having all that screen space.

You are going to want atleast 1 screen that is 1080p to be able to see every pixel of the HVX footage at 1080. So a 1900 x 1200 screen is what you want. Brand? I dont know, id get an Apple, but im biased. I wouldnt recommend two 1440x900 screens.

I say the 23" Apple. It's worth the extra money in my opinion. You get the full 1080p resolution which is great for full screen preview; apple will be better for CC than the Samsung. I use a Gateway for my secondary monitor/viewing but I always do compositing/CC on the Apple.

according to most people here on the boards, the Dell is not good for video monitoring at all.

I second the dell 24 inch...this is coming from a mbp user. But personally I'd get the same samsung you listed but the 23inch.

I wasn't even aware that fcp could do full screen previews.

If the dell is't good then I am going to bet that the samsung will be worse. 700-1 contrast ratio vs 1000-1 on the Dell. I would look at the numbers. Doubt that anyone here has done a back to back comparo of both monitors. I love the Dell for what I am doing!
