Samsung announces APS-C camera with video mode

Huh, never saw this one coming. Would love to see some footage when it becomes available.

The video-capable DSLR arena is heating up. I can't wait to see what Canon and Nikon announcements are made once PMA hits.

Anyone know who Samsung gets their sensors from? EG: Do they manufacture them or are they dependant on an outside company. The later has strategic disadvantages since skew is a factor of sensor design and previous APS-c cameras have all been still oriented.

Samsung is a rather major player; I imagine they make their own. There should be a full selection of hybrid cameras in a year or two; 4/3rd, APS-C, and full frame. Advancing technology will probably let oversampling work better, on camera storage quality will go up with improved bandwidth and codecs, HDMI output will become cheaper to capture.

The question is just which camera and when. Given the mockup at PMA, the Samsung is probably a September announcement for possible October-November availablity. New Canons, Nikons, Pentax, and Sony's could be out by then.
