Samsung 120Hz

So after hearing the radio and seeing the TV commercials I have this question..... doesn't the 120Hz stuff with Samsung mean completely nothing. They would have duplicate frames to achieve 120Hz therefore frames 1 would become 1 and 2, ect..... meaning 1/60 = 2/120. What does the 120Hz achieve then if it's showing 1 frame for a 60th of a second or 2 identical frames for 120th of a second (meaning equivalent screen time)? or do they blend the 1st and 2nd frame of 60fps for that 2nd frame in the 120Hz?

EDIT:
Nevermind got it..... it just seems like it's better for 24p stuff.... am I wrong?

So you can multiply a 24p source by 5 and get 120 or a 30p source by 4 and get 120, ect...... so you don't have to deal with 2:3..... really doesn't do too much (might do a little) for the image itself.

i don't know all the technical aspects of it, but 120Hz is better for viewing fast action images. if you're watching a football game on a 60hz lcd, you'll notice the picture get some motion blur. not so with 120Hz refresh rate.

I've noticed in some stores, they have these 120hz sets upsampling HD movies so they end up looking like interlaced video, which is just retarded.
